New Year Fireworks from Lavender Bay

Hello All

Just a few shots of the Fireworks over the Harbour on New Years Eve.
Gary and Mai Kopff, Craig Wedeswieler a friend of ours and Miriam and I went to see the midnight show. After being turned away from our usual vantage point of Blues Point we were directed to Lavender Bay. It ended up being not a bad place to view the show.

Thanks Guys
As always the show was fantastic. also as always it didnt seem to last long although I believe it was about 20 minutes. I ran out of card space about 2 minutes before the finalle, I shot over 4gig in that 20 minutes.
My fav is the first, the lone guy watching the fireworks like they are just for him. Not easy to find in a crowd of over a million people.

Hello All
Thanks for your kind words.
Matt, We watched the 9:00pm display at Gary's before we headed into the city. they looked great then but being there with the noise and smell was better.
Octane, your images of the Canberra show were also fantastic. your vantage point was unusual. it looks different looking across and down on fireworks.
Al I am happy to share the images as plenty of other people share their great shots as well. This is a GREAT site for sharing. PS Al, you look uncannily like my brother in your image, it is scary.

Wow Hector,

You took a picture of exactly where I was shooting on a boat. I suppose it would be too much of a fluke to remember 2 almost identical 25' bowriders strapped together (we were the only setup like that) with a inflatable swim platform floating off the back, (yes there was sumo wrestling involved) if you do that was me and my family.

If I could get the photo at the bottom of attached photos at full resolution I could point out our boats.

I've got some shots, it was my first light with our new 1000d, but I found it really difficult to get a steady shot on a rocking boat.

My little nephew Jack caught 3 bream and a starfish while waiting for the fireworks though....

Small world eh?

Brett

Nice shots! My favorite is the one with the guy on the roof. Did he make good pics?
