well christmas has come and gone time for the new year.we bought our 5 year old a scope from target for chrissy he enjoys looking through mine and thought its about time to see if he does enjoy it.last night was our first clear night out he brings it with a smile from ear to ear, theres a star dad no mate thats venus that'll do dad he says hopping around like kids do christ i said to the misses as i got on my stomach to align it for him, well in the eyepiece i could see 3 venuses (only a starter scope)here you go son well he sat down looked in it and said venus has 2 moons.well it brought a tear to my eyes he looked at it for 20 minutes i showed him how to just lift the back of the scope up and venus will be centred again sitting down on the wall beside him telling him about the sky and things he just kept on looking in it.lets try m42 i said back on my stomach, there you go son well there was smile and a yell got it dad small round cloud thats it mate, well i explained what it was and grabed this months sky&telescope and showed him what he was looking at well he looked in the eyepiece then the book lifted the back of scope to put it in the field i just stood back and watched him
i was amazed at how he sat there for nearly 2 hours looking,we looked at a couple of other stars, then mum come out lets go mate she says well the tiers started to flow it was past 9 pm he puts his scope away says good night. theres plenty of more clear night mate i said and of to bed he goes
down in my dome doing a bit of viewing i sat back and thought how proud i was of this little boy taking every thing in,i was just amazed at what he had seen and how long his attention was there .it must be different with his own in stead of lifting him up to see in mine. the view he was seeing was crap but to him he had seen the universe and that smile, ill never forget his first night with his scope
here is some pictures of him
