Lynx spider

Finally got out for some macro fun yesterday - terribly out of practice, but managed to grab this shot in amongst many out of focus misses .

Terrific shot, Andrew.

What camera/lens combo did you use?

Shot was taken with a Canon 400D and 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Other shot details include shot on manual with Tv = 1/200th, Av = f/13, ISO = 200. I used a 580EXII flash and Lumiquest softbox which I have found gives more even lighting.

Thanks Mike ... we should have chosen spiders or legs or spikes or macro for a topic - but it still would have been too late

Fantastic shot Andrew!
I can see that I'll have to save up for a dedicated macro lens - the 70-300 telephoto/macro that I have is OK for a bit of mucking around, but it can't produce images like that!

Cheers,
Stephen

yeah - when I first loaded it into lightroom I had a play with the exposure but I thought that brightening it took away from the image and made the image background looked pushed. Therefore I reset the exposure to the original out of camera and left it at that. I should point out that it was overcast with some dark storm clouds approaching and I was only using the flash at around 1/8 power. I think the lighting is "moody" and the main subject is lit enough, albeit slightly uneven for the out of focus legs, and therefore decided to run with it.
