Mick, Peter Ward Advance Telescopes (atscopes.com.au) seems to be the local dealer for SBIG. I have a friend who has bought a lot of gear from Peter and is very happy with the service Peter provides. Also I think he would be your best bet for advise on the SBIG's, I have seen quiet a few shots by him in local Astro mag's taken with SBIG's.

What is the size of the CCD?You could use a focal reducer to increase the FOV.

Yes you could use a Focal reducer but it's very low in rezolution to be broadening FOV.

I personaly wouldn't go any smaller then the SBig ST-8 or the SBIG ST2000....both fantastic camera's.

Louie had a ST 7...ask him on his thoughts.

Not used an ST-7 myself, but images I have seen seem to indicate a rather poor dynamic range (compared to DSLR's and larger SBIGs).
Cheers
