Talking Sold my horse at last.

As some of you will know, I have been waiting for ages to sell my horse so I can finance a new scope. This afternoon it finally happened. I sold the horse and tomorrow morning I'll be ordering my 10inch Dob!
I would have ordered it this afternoon, but I was too polite to kick these people off the property so I could get to the phone.
Sooo exciting.
What other filters should I buy to go with it? Certainly an OIII filter, but what coloured filters are the most useful?
After re-reading an article in the Nov/Dec 2004 edition of Sky and Space, a review on budget wide-field eyepieces. Thought that I might buy the Andrews UW80 30mm eyepiece.
Can't wait to get the new scope, LOL, we need the rain.

Good on you jjjnettie ... I think Andrews are offering the 30mm eyepiece as part of the deal, with a 10" or 12" Dob.
If you can handle the extra size & Focal length, go the 12"

I think you should have kept it, considering the price of fuel! Seriously though, good one! Bring on the new astro-toys hey! Yippeeee!

Well done Jeanette - great choice too.

I would buy the UHC filter before the OIII though - the UHC might be more versatile. The UHC is what we used on the Veil at Astrofest. Just make sure it doesn't arrive next Wednesday (gaa_ian and I are getting together for some observing that night and we don't need the clouds )

I'd love to go the 12" dob, but I wouldn't have any money left over to buy the accessories that I need/want.
I'll take your advice on the UHC filter.

Good choice .. you will get a lot of use from the UHC. I am considering getting a 2" one as well as the 1 1/4" one I already have.
You will love the 10" Dob, Even if I get a bigger scope later I will keep the 10", because it is so easy to use/move/setup for a quick viewing session.
