The Carlo Sand Blow is located just on the edge of the Rainbow Beach township.
Wind has blown away all vegetation from the top of a hill and left a valley of bare sand.
There is a sheer cliff drop down to the ocean, signs warn of crumbling edges.
But it is breath takingly beautiful and the views up and down the coast from that vantage are extraordinary.
Nice pictures! I was camping at Rainbow a few weeks ago with some mates and we visited the sand blow. Good fun! But exhausting trying to climb the sides!
Nice shooting Jeanette. Rainbow Beach is one of favourite holiday spots and your piccies makes me want to be there right now . I love that you can see the scale of things in image one thanks to the boy (one of yours?)
Did you take a cardboard box to slide down on?
Next time we go up, we're taking the grass sled/toboggan.
Not last time we were there. We've been camping at Rainbow a few times before, and we once treked some cardboard up there (and an eski lid, though that didn't work too well ). Good fun!
Andrew, that's my boy Tom. He's 10yrs old now.
When we got there, we had warned the kids about the cliffs, but Tom just took off full pelt. Greg and Jack had to catch up to him and stop him from just running off the edge.

Reason: Can't recognise my own children
Here I am, sitting in the office, and these images appear! I used to visit the Fraser coast every year, but haven't been there since 2004... I wanna go back, right now! Forget work, pack up the truck and just go!
