Large prom

There's a large and intricate looping prominence and nearby filament out there if you get the chance before sundown.

I had a good look at the prom around lunchtime today with the SM40 and it's the most intricate and convoluted display I have seen in quite a few years. I'll have to get serious about imaging properly to capture these spectacular events though. What you see in the eyepiece just doesn't come across in images at all. I think a webcam set up maybe the go.

I hope something is still active tomorrow. I got the PST out for the first
time in a long a few days ago. Seemed to be a lot of lil proms near one
of the poles.

regards,CS

Go for it - we need a couple more solar imagers on IIS. Solar activity is almost enough to lure me into imaging but I see our dollar is going over another waterfall tonight. Those Meade DSI price drops just about balance out our currency devaluation.

Some memories from the 22nd

The weather's been pretty poor the last day or so.
These were taken with a DMK21, prime focus ( 900mm) with a SM60/BF15 on a Vixen A80Mf. Registax, PSP
