Observing Chairs...do you have one?

I am interested in getting an observing chair and I was wondering what other people have and use...

I am rather "portly" and do not intend to meet Jenny Craig soon so I am looking for something very sturdy yet portable

I am just starting to research this topic so thoughts/ideas are welcome

I currently use a stool I got from Ikea...works great as a step but not so good as a chair...

I use a wooden bar stool with the legs chopped down to an appropriate height for my dob.
The problem with any kind of fold up chair is that they are likely to collapse when dragged around one-handedly or if sat on any way other than straight.

I don't use anything when using the reflector. For the refractor a kitchen chair is used.

I use one of these. It took my dad all of about 20mins to make, it would have taken me hours! I should add a picture of it into my "Show us your equipment" thread post.

I stapled an old towel onto the chair for added comfort, works great!

i use one of those moulded plastic chairs at home and a fold up job out.

I made one of these a few months back:

Using scrap lumber down at the shed, it cost me nothing and took less than an hour to assemble.

I added some small traingular pieces to work as a corner braces and it helped a lot with stability.

I used 1"x6" lumber, but you could go bigger if you were concerned about strength

ps. That LYBAR is brilliant, if a bit bulky. Maybe a mod,(hinges/stays?), to make it collapsible?

I made the same one as Thiink I don't use it as often as I should, however.. probably because lately i'm never sitting down for long enough just 'observing'.. up and down changing eyepieces while testing them, up and down while doing imaging etc.

Looking forward to getting back to some pure observing, sitting on a chair and taking it all in. Though I haven't actually tried my chair with the EQ platform in use - i'm not sure if the extra height will be too much for the chair.

I use a bar stool though I am leaning more towards one of those gas lift ones you mentioned For quick sessions 1/2 hour to 45 minutes I use my scope while standing

I knocked up this lil stool in about an hour.....It should have been a few inches higher but it does the job... I use a small cushion when needed.

Finished in a nice stain..
