Very Nice TJ. Will just about have to be your last for a while or you will have to find a filter that blocks daylight. LOL

Gee that is pretty neat for Eta being so low at the moment, nice going indeed.

Gorgeous. These QHY-8s are so good with the Ha I wonder if you need a Ha filter. Fine work.

thanks everyone,
the UHC-S filter sure helps bring out detail in nebulae but at the cost of throwing out the clour balance and losing all colour in stars.

i tried taking a few subs when the moon was up with the UHC-S in the hope that the red channel might be something like a poor mans Ha filter but it didnt really work as well as id hoped. atleast its much easier for me to set everything up now since replacing the tripod with a portable pier so i cant wait till the moon buggers off again, it used to take me forever to set up

That's very nice. Lovely colours and sharp details. I used the UHC-S filter a couple of times on M16 and M17. It does bring out a lot more details in the red channel but it's not an answer to LP or moon nights although in my case it did help a little bit. I noticed it shifts the red histogram to the right so as you say it throws off your color balance. That's very easily fixed by using the channel mixer in Photoshop and offset the red back into position. You'lll then be back in business
