2" Barlows & Short Tube Refractors

Hi guys,

I hear that the University Optics 2" barlow won't work with my Megrez II SD and other short tubes. (Something about the lens in the barlow being too far forward and actually ending up inside the OTA...) Apparently William Optics' own apo 2" barlow manages to reach focus all right (surprise, surprise), but costs near $300.

Anyone here have any experience with STs and big barlows, like televue's Big Barlow or 2" Powermates, or some other nameless brands for that matter?

Thanks for your input,

Brian.

you have to use a diagonal to get focus.

I couldn't get focus on my ED 80 without the diagonal so I bought a 2" extender $34...now I get focus without the use of a diagonal.
