anyone here tried orbiter space flight simulator?

I found it about a week ago when I was looking for astronomy software, it is so cool you get to have a go at piloting the space shuttle and all of the apollo missions have'nt quiet got the hang of orbital mechanics just yet but there are tonnes of tutorials on the net.
The program is so close to the actual computers used on the apollo program you can actually use the orginal apollo flight manuals to operate the simulator. I must warn you though there is a steep learning curve but if you hang in there it gets easier after all it's only rocket science!

If you don't know of orbiter I suggest you check it out, it is a free download just type orbiter 2006 p1 edition into your browser and follow the links.

^^ sounds like one heck of a riiiide. Did it put up a satisfactory performance or did it prematurely breakdown?

re: the orbiter sim:- flying the X-15 is mad fun. That's the only reason I downloaded it, easy to learn and fun as! Sadly my joystick has gone to hell so can't really fly anymore.
