Why you need to keep your dust cap on!

Taken by Joe Cauchi last weekend at Wiruna this picture shows my equipment with the Earths shadow on the horizon behind it... and a very helpful companion who luckily...was constipated

Great picture Mike, a nice blend of science and nature.

It sure does highlight why dust protectors are a must in the field. You might have to rename them to "Dropping shields".

Mike, that is actually a great capture, a truly Australian theme, nice going, have to agree though about the dust caps, we wouldn't want him doing his business down the tube, would we.

As by my avi I can relate to that .. Though no one was there for that
shortest of moments when I thought ..thats great a large parrot sitting atop my newly finished dob..and my gaze drifted down to the ground where a large slice of shredded ply lay at its base .. it came from my base board btw ..I promise I didn't launch into a dummy spitting panic .. well not for long anyway

Well if had had the lens cap off you may have captured a unique shot of the "Beak Nebula" a large, pointy, dark, out-of-focus object of no fixed RA and Dec.
