ngc253 - m8

Hi all

Finally had a clear night in Perth last night so I ventured out to the obs to try and do some imaging. I was pretty tired having done some jobs around the house for my lady but determined to try and get something with the FLT110. I set up with my MPCC, UV/IR and LPS2 filters attached to ST2000XCM and mounted direct into the 2" eyepiece holder of the OTA. The system came to focus at 99mm this time.
I didn't get a good calibration run and the images have suffered but didn't turn out as bad as I thought at first ... if you don't look too close ... OK.
Anyway here are the only 2 objects I imaged before calling it quits at around midnight after falling asleep during an exposure on 253.

Details :

ngc253 5x360sec ( rgb's stacked only )
m8 8x360sec ( rgb and ddp files stacked together )
adjusted in PS CS3

G'day Steve,

M8 has come up especially nice.
With a better calibration run you'll get this scope rock'n (so to speak LOL).

Good work.

Thanks Jase, just wish we could get a run of clear skies so I can really get into it.

Cheers Andrew, I think the scope certainly has the goods. Calibration can be quite fickle in CCDOPs, I was getting pretty low error readout but something was obviously not quite right !

Looks very nice Steve. Well done.

The FLT110 looks like a real performer.

Thanks Matt, it sure is a nice scope ! Ofcourse the SBIG ST2000XCM has something to do with it as well.
