Victorian Skies to Return

To all the Victorians!!

The good news is that our skies are returning this week. Someone must have cancelled the cloud cover.

As long as the temperatures don't plummet I will be out there enjoying it in all it's glory. I have only used my scope for a total of about 10 minutes in the last 3 months

Hmpphhh! I just went and checked here: http://www.weatherzone.com.au/local/...002&pcode=3350

Wouln't you know it! Foggy and 1 degree here most nights!!
At least all you Melbourne folk will enjoy it.

Yay! Finally I can test my third Meade 5000 series plossl.

But there have been some good breaks in the clouds where the seeing has been awesome, not much wind and absolutely no heat coming off the ground.
The problem is, by the time you get your scope out...

All my best views this winter have been on my way back to the car in the safeway car park. Must remember to take the bino's when I rush out to get that late night litre of milk and packet of timtams. Since safeway is only 20 meters from the big white sandy beach it's so tempting to skip over the road and get the coastal bush to block the light from the big sign. Luckly they don't sell cheapo scopes or I'd have a stack of them building up in the garage at home covered in sand.

only one week to go in winter!

I have just come in from 3 hours of glorius observing, temp 10deg no wind slight dew seeing 7-10 transparency 6-10 due to smoke haze on horizon from burning off, Moon came up so closed down after quick peek, it was the same on Sunday but not as long, and it looks like much of the same for the rest of the week,
As they say beautiful one day perfect the next.astroron

I am going to be very tired on Sat night after our Club playing at the Melbourne Storm night game, and next morning I'm up early to set up for our Grand Final here in Ballarat.

And you can bet your life that Sat night will be the best night for viewing

I'll think of you on Saturday night Ken when I'm observing, enjoy yourself and best of luck to the boys.

Thanks Ron,

I will be down at Olympic Park among 20,000 floodlights trying to see if the sky is clear. LOL! Don't like my chances of seeing anything except Football Stars!
