midge and mozzie!

yup we breed them big around here! the mozzie tried to fly out the window carrying my cat!!!

we have a female mozzie and a feather antenaed midge

thanks mike. generally i try to maximise DoF but loose some minor detail. this time i went the opposite way for more fine detail but less DoF... trick business this macro stuff... its all about comprimise.

geez I am hear the high pitch buzz now.... yes its that time of year, they are coming out in the millions, swarming in pockets of still air under trees and buildings. i hit a swarm on the back road off the freeway near the hexham swamp the other night - completely covered the windscreen and front of the car - i would not have liked to have riden a bike or motor bike through them....

Amazing fine detail Ving, the separation of the feathered antenna is fantastic.
