16" Newtonian GOTO

My huge 16" ex-Dob has to go.

I have decided to down-scale to a Maksutov that I can actually lift by myself so my Dob has to move over. It now needs a loving new home. It is an ex-Meade Starfinder that now sits on a custom mount with a full Bartels stepper system and associated electronics and controlled by its own laptop running Win98/DOS. It has a Meade 70mm (x600) finder with its own diagonal and CCD plus illuminated 12.5 mm reticle (for a bit of variety) and a second CCD (3 Meg) on the main - both linked into a second Laptop. It also runsd Project Pluto Guide V8.0 and some other stuff (Stellarium and CDC). The mount has 2 side trays that hold the batteries, 300 Watt Sine Wave inverter, Bartels Box and 2 laptops (avoiding the bulk of cable clutter), some Halogen red lights, power board and takeoffs for an MP3 player and small speakers (ya gotta have music right?).

I paid $3600 for 2 years ago it before refurbishing and rebuilding it and in the process, spending another $1200 or so on a full Bartels replacement including steppers.

I haven't had an opportunity to give it some light until I take it to a starfest in Qld at the end of Sept. after that, it is ready to go.

I'll post some pics if anyone is interested.

It's a pickup only job in SE Qld.

Any offers?

Peter

Peter it may be worth mentioning which star party / when that is in case anyone wants to see it in action first, and if they like it maybe they can pick it up from you there too.

Absolutely correct. I should have mentioned which star party. And I should have added some pics. Both deficiencies now remedied:

1. The Star Party is the Barambah Dark Skies Camp in the banjo-playing wilds of SE Qld.
2. Some pics now attached.

I guess we'll see you there then.
I look forward to seeing your scope in action.

Hi Jeanette.I met you at the Barambah site, briefly.Fellow who just sold his 14" LX200. What is the price of the Newtonian.I presume the Bartels gear is for tracking? And that you "anchor" the system and use ladder for higher viewing.Have you done imaging with it? Pardon my fuzziness about the working qualities. Thanks for any information on price.PS, I am still astonished at the results you got with the refractor.I rushed home and set mine up and discovered the Canon 350D can't come to focus with my 80 mm.Best regards, Mike Roberts.
