M42

Original intention was to have a go at NGC253 but, after spending all night unsuccessfully trying to drift align .
I only ended up with two, 2 minute exposures of the Orion neb.

ISO 800
GSO 6" Newtonian
D200

Will eventually come together!!!
Practice, practice, practice.

Cheers
Deeno

Onya mate !!!
Way better than my initial attempts at M42.

Once you have drift alignment worked out there'll be no stopping you.

scarry stuff - if that is your first attempt, you must be reading from the Eric Lo book of astrophotography

Looking good Deeno, if you can get some guiding happening you'll be rockin' and rollin' in no time.

Well Deeno that's better than what I would get with 1hr on colour film 25yrs ago, in fact something like that would have been good enough to get published in Sky & Telescope, perhaps even the front cover, back then, so we have come along way.

At least you got something from the nights efforts, always good

Mike

I wouldn't like to stack my first M42 attempt up with that one Deeno. What didn't happen for you for most of the rest of the night doesn't matter if this is what you can achieve while yer packin yer gear up !!!! I would have believed you if you said that M42 is the only thing you image and you think you are getting pretty good at it !!!!

Wow!!
Thanks for the response.
Feeling really motivated after what was a long and frustrating night.
Even though the tracking is poor and the focus isn't great, I think there is some real potential to build upon for what is a very basic setup.

Thanks again
Deeno
