A big bunch of Bugs - macro munchies at Roma St Parkland

Hi All,

I took my Canon 100mm F2.8 macro back to Roma St parkland after being inspired by the recent efforts there from Tony and Andrew. I put their excellent tips into practice (e.g. set min manual focus and using my flash) and got some significant improvement on my normal fair.

Some bees, a funny grub-thing, a nice spider, lady bug and a rather sleek looking ant.

Comments welcome.

cheers,

Rob

Hi Rob

A lovely portfolio of excellent macro photos. Although they are all wonderful portraits revealing the beauty and fascination of the macro world, I particularly like 1,4,5,6 & 7.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks for loaning me your bee, it was very well trained and actually sat on the flowers for more than half a second. I've think I've mastered the art of, see bee, point camera, see fuzzy bee, focus, focus, there it is, start to press the shutter...bee gone

I reckon I might have bagged your Lady Bug too

I expect you guys took your shots at the flower bed right up toward the top of the gardens near the Vietnam War memorial.... didn't see too many other flower gardens like that one.

that secondone is like the laval stage of the lady bug... seems you have got a before and after shot
love the jumping spider too! they are such characters and you can get all sorts of expressions out of them... go back to that spider, he wont travel too far.

great series of shots. congrats

Thanks David, I never would have thought, but now you mention it, you can see the colour and black patch patterning coming through... do you know if they cocoon themselves or just crack our of their shell?
