Extending SynScan Controller Cable & Focus Controllers

Has anyone extended their synscan controller cable?

I've got about 40m of Cat5e cable, Rj45 connectors and Rj45-Rj45 connectors but wanted to check first if anyone has done this, as I dont want to blow up the controller.

Im planning on using remote desktop inside the gamesroom to the laptop which I'll keep outside.
Only problem is focus which I think I'll have to invest in a focus controller.
Are their good cheap focus controllers for Skywatcher Crayfords that I could use also? I have a SW Dob I mount on the EQ6

Well I took the risk and grabbed a spare computer network cable(straight-through I think it is), plugged it all in,and it all works fine

Now I'll just make up a 30-40m metre length so I can control the scope from indoors.

Just curious which mount this is you're working with Leinad? EQ6 I imagine I was thinking of replacing my (HEQ5Pro) coiled cable with a cat5 cable to get around suspected connection problems with connectors, but wasn't game without specs or having check wiring.

Yep. I run a length of straight through CAT5 to a RJ45 - RJ45 female to female connector, plug the hand controller at one end, the hand controllers standard lead into the connector and into the mount, and have my HC beside my laptop during imaging.

Works a treat.

Eq6Pro mount Rob. I've done just as Alex has. Standard coiled lead(serial? to RJ45 for controller from mount to connector, then straight through cat5e cable on connector to hand controller.
