Temma 2 drive help

I'd really appreciate some help on the wiring sequence for the stepper drive version of the Takahashi Temma 2 drive.

I have an old drive that needs repairing. All I need is for someone to have a look at their PCB and get back to me.

The wire sequence looks to be
from the top (level with Temma 2 label) of the PCB to bottom (level with autoguide port) Black Red Yellow, X X X, Black Red Yellow, Blue Red White

Its the X X X sequence that I need. I suspect it is Blue Red White...but would like this confirmed.

Help here much appreciated

Peter

Do you mean the PCB that lies underneath the Control Box on the mount as in the attached copy from the Tak manual? I have an EM200 Temma II and will take a look over the weekend and let you know my findings.

Cheers

Dennis,

Many thanks, and yes the PCB under the control box. Each stepper has 6 wires...I'm wanting to confirm the second group from the top

Hello Monte/Peter

Due to a family member falling ill, I missed the opportunity to have a look at my EM200 Temma II over the weekend, so I’ve re-scheduled for the coming weekend.

Monte, if you can do the investigation before then, please go for it, I’m sure Peter would appreciate it.

Cheers

Hello, Peter

Here are some photos of the innards and back side of my EM200 Temma II Control Box. Hope they help with your re-wiring problem. I’ve included some wider views to help with context of the wiring looms.

My mount was purchased from AEC approx 2 to 3 years ago.

Cheers

Here's a wider view showing the blue/black wires joined and capped.

Is that good enough? I would imagine so, it is very detailed. If not, PM me and I will get my one out.

Hi Monte

If you do take yours apart, unless Peter would benefit from another view inside, I would just unscrew the x4 corner external (long) screws which hold the whole control box assembly into the mount casing. After undoing those x4 screws, use an Allan key to unclamp the encoders from the RA and DEC drive shafts and then the whole case assembly lifts off, with encoders attached.

If you then need to separate the lid of the control box to peek inside, then you need to undo the x10 small screws around the base that holds the top case to the bottom case. Be careful, these are tiny screws.

Takahashi also seem to apply a very soft gasket between the control box and the housing recess, which just peels off. I replaced it with homemade strips of closed cell foam when I refitted the control box.

Cheers

Dennis
