Sculptor

Hi All

My latest image of NGC253 with my SW Newt ! Can't wait to get my WO FLT-110 Apo and have a crack at this again. This had hideous light gradients due to my location .... oh for a dark sky

11x360sec ST2000XCM
254mm F4.7 Newt ... EQ6 Pro
self guided in CCDOPS
RGB's stacked in DSS
GradientXTerminator, levels etc in PS CS3

p.s. Just uploaded original rgb stack to show light gradient.

Not bad Steve, nice colour balance. A tad noisy, perhaps 10-15min subs?

Thats a huge gradient, did you get rid of it just with GradientXTerminator, or did you also use flats?

I remember first seeing this galaxy in my Meade DSX90AT Mak when I lived in darker sky area, just a faint blurr, but visible and I have been trying to get a satisfactory image with my Newts ever since. Still trying .....

Glad you like it Paul.

Had to pull levels down a lot first in CS3 then GXT .... damn .... I just realised I only did a coarse GXT .... I'll have to do fine application as well and see how it looks.

Cheers Fred.

Thanks Greg.

I have a 200mm F5 and a 254mm F4.7 ... both SkyWatcher. Image was done with 254mm.
