Dew Help

im wondering what is the best Dew prevention method to use ? a sheild or heaters ?

Any feedback on this would be great as im in to minds as to which is best

Probably a dew heater would be the best. However I suggest you use both for better results.

My 6" achro has a shield, and is heavily affected by dewy conditions...

My new 80mm scopes have shields, and I bought heaters to counter the problem..

I would (and did) go with both.

the C11 adn there will be a WO Z66 on top of it

The C11 needs a dew shield and a heated dew strip too. It will dew up in the blink of an eye.

now for the second part of my question what heat straps to use orion or kendrick ? and any experance with the differnaces between them both as they look the same to me

Yep the C11 you'll definately need both as the corrector plate is right on the front and open to the dew.

Have a browse through the ATM forums and you'll find some good tutorials on how to build both.
The 66 has a small dew shield so you may just need a heater strap.

I've just bought the Orion Dew Zapper and a couple of straps for my 2 80mm's haven't had them out yet for a test, but it looks a hell of a lot like the Thousand Oaks system, which works very well... If you're handy with electronics, making a PWM controlled dew heater system is pretty easy... I just dont like the finish of any of my home built projects so I went with a commercial one (lazyness wins 90% of the time)

Like yourself, no.. 100% lazy so comerically built works best my way

After having recently acquired Thousand Oaks system through SDM, I can say I'm very satisfied (no commercial interest or kickback) I just like things that work when they arrive in the mail, have a good finish and are functional.
