Drift question

Hi Guys.

Yes, another drift alignment question so my apologies.

When I drift align and I'm looking for movement up or down I often notice that the star will drift side ways and then come back is that periodic error in the gears that I'm looking at? It happens in both orientations. If I do pec training will that alleviate the problem?

Thanks
Sandy

You need to think drift aligned to the motion of the Earth East -> West is mostly periodic / seeing / tracking rate or refraction errors.

Drift along the other axis during a drift alignment is mostly polar mis-alignment.

So ignore the first class of errors when you are drift alignment (RA errors) and adjust for error in the other axis (DEC).
