Pier goes up in smoke

Western Super Mare Pier in Somerset goes up in smoke
I know that a few members from the old country would remember it well
I hope they can rebuild it.

You got me, Ron...

I was wondering how a scope pier could go up in smoke without the scope or the rest of the obs....

It's always sad to see an icon or a well known landmark go...

Al.

That was a pretty big inferno! The article mentions it burning down in 1930 and it took 3 years to rebuild it, so hopefully they will rebuild it again.

Weston Super Mare, isn't that where John Cleese grew up?

Hi Ron, I can remember visiting the pier when I was nine almost forty years ago with my Aunt. We had icecreams but that is about all I can remember.

It's funny how things jog the old grey matter. I read the article and it clicked that I had been there.

I'll have to email my aunty tonight, she's 89 and sharp as a tack, she'll be able to fill in the details of our visit.

I remember the pier at Weston-Super-Mare well. We used to go there on our summer holidays almost every year.
