I don't think it will impact the majority of us who might post happy snaps on the internet. It's really only going to be an issue for people who take photos without permission, and post them without permission.

There's already laws now that you can't display kiddies pictures on the internet without their parents consent. I know I had to sign some forms for my son when he was playing soccer, just incase they put something on their website about my son's team, his name or any pictures.

I think they're just being careful to protect the kiddies (as they should) but I don't think it will affect the majority of us.

John,

How do you ban all child photos. There must be billions of them!! If the sickoes couldn't get access to them on the net they will only start scanning them from magazines like New Idea, Womans Weekly etc which always have kids in them and post them on the net.

My boys get a kick out of seeing themselves in our Footy site.

I don't think a total ban could be accomplished. Maybe a restriction of sorts, but still hard to police.

When I first started putting my boys on the net the thought of sickoes ran across my mind. I am concerned, but what is the answer.

Oh no. This sucks. If you read the article you can see that the issue isn't being invented, but I still don't like the solution.

"First, action must be taken to ensure young people are not photographed in ways that exploit them and invade their privacy, despite not necessarily being sexually explicit."

Hmm, better stick to taking photos of flowers and make sure it's away from everybody.

On a related note, I'm getting a t-shirt that says "I'm not a Terrorist, I'm a Photograper"
So from a distance you see
Terrorist
Photographer

Mig, tourists in our town (Ballarat gets lots of them) are always called Terrorists instead of Tourists.

But I have noticed lately that the humourous term has died out coz it's not funny any more.

It's about time! Ban all pictures I say. Let's all go back to VT100s and a text-only command-line interface. 10 million dummy terminals all plugged into one massive central UNIX server in Canberra. Now that's my kind of Utopia! Everyone, avoid the rush and download your copy of Lynx now!

I always thought it was all down hill from DOS 5.

But wait, something evil might come from text too so better get rid of that also.

better start banning binos and scope. Don't know what the crazies are looking at through them. Hell why not just ban all eyes, that would really sort the problem out.
Better yet find the people who are doing all this stuff and lock them away forever.

My boss showed me his new 8x20 binoculars today with built in 3mp digicam.
Such a thing could be a little scary in the wrong hands.

P.S. its for checking antennas at the top of towers .

It's a sad world we live in today that such a problem exists. I posted a pic of my son dancing with a couple of teenage girls at AstroFest 2005. It is a harmless snap from a wonderful event. Now I feel I should go and remove it. I don’t have their parents permission to post it. It would horrify me to know a picture of my son was being used inappropriately. Not that the image I posted meant any harm, but the caption could be misinterpreted. What do you guy's think?

The IceInSpace group photo has my son in it should this also be removed?

regards
