NGC6231 open cluster...but what's this?

Hi All, tried imaging this open cluster along the lower spine of Scorpius last night.... I could not get auto-guide to stabilise (seeing was bad!) and most were like star trails...this is just what I could salvage from a few still far from perfect light frames. 6 x120s ED80 F7 (0.8 reducer) IDAS-LPS filter and Canon 40D at ISO 800.

I wouldn't have bothered posting, but I was surprised to see some emission nebula appearing and wondered whether this was associated with 6231 or if it went by another name?

Hey Rob

It's IC4628.

I captured an image of it a few months ago in a nice wide mosaic. Check here:

Well done, it's a lovely area of sky.

Thanks guys, the "Prawn" nebula... think I can remember that one

If I ever get my guiding sorted out (which I'm beginning to doubt ) I would like to give this one a go with my C9.25.

cheers,

Rob

Thanks Guys, I may have made an error or incomplete listing on this one too... apparently at least one of the open clusters is NGC6242? There's two in the frame so maybe both are in there
