Lost in Sydney before I get there

Hi all I have i slight dilemma ,i,ll be driving soon all by my lonesome to Sydney for the first time and need to go to Bintel...going all out on a 16" lightbridge with the argo navis, purelly for observational astronomy.......... but first stop from broken hill will be Tamworth then when i,m finished there i travel to Wyong all for work purposes........this should be no problem i think, then into Sydney only to go to bintel .OK now i will have a navman hopefully to get there but ive never driven in sydney by myself , just thinking of it i,m biting my nails ...now should i trust the navman or turn around at wyong and bypass the city and pay the freight home, i,m open for suggestions....cheers Kev.

Just try to keep out of peak hours and you'll be fine. And get your navman to not put you onto the tollroads.

If I can find the Bintel Shop, You can do it too!

It is in the neighborhood of the Fish Markets at Glebe...a little time on Google Maps and travel out of peak time and you should do fine!

Good Luck and Congratulations on the new scope!

Hey I'm from Perth and I've been too Sydney on business several times. Caught the buses, ferries and I've walked the streets so too speak, it's not that daunting like mentioned just avoid the peak hours. Great city to visit

If your worried about speed and heading in the right direction, then go over
during peak hour, at 20kms per hour lol.

As you come across the Harbour Bridge from the north, you should probably
look for Darling Harbour (I think from memory the Fish Markets are sign posted
too) or you might find yourself heading out west, or south the the
airport, or East to Bondi.

But it's been about 5 yrs since I was driving around Sydney things might
of changed.

regards,CS

LOL has a tomtom and now actually enjoys driving around Sydney. There is a pub next door to bintel so it wont be too bad. Tolls are a pain..just keep a handful of change to chuck into the baskets.

Check the maps. I suggest that you turn right at Lane Cove and go over the Gladesville Bridge. That gets you to Glebe quite painlessly.

Kev, have you checked the Lightbridge boxes fit in your vehicle? Yhey're quite big. I've thrown mine away so can't give you the dimensions. Bintel should be able to give you the sizes.

Thanks all for the helpfull replies ,Ive only use the navman when i,m in adelaide but you dont really need one there because if you get lost there you just stand on the roof of your car and you can see the city.

Space aint a prob since i,m in the 2008 V8 landcruiser ute but i,ll have to hurry out of there and get back over the mountains to beat the rain if any...........but seriously i aint going that far to go home empty handed.........cheers Kev.

That's all you need, the Navman will get you anywhere no problem. I've driven in Sydney traffic heaps, I used to spend weeks at a time driving rental cars there when my brother was ill. Sydney is, IMO, the best of the big cities to drive in. The drivers are more curtious and businesslike in their driving although in my early experience I learned very quickly not to be indecisive or hesitatant.

Thanks Phil the navman should do justice ,so i,ll come across the harbour bridge into the city only to save probably $150 postage thats a guess for the size

To outbackman the fuel tanks hold 240 litres thats with a sub tank that holds 160 ltrs and that will get me 1300 klm,s before refueling ,yep the single turbo i got told the difference between the v8 and straight 6 turbo is only 2hp......cheers Kev.
