The Dark Tower in scorpius with ED80?QHY8

This is a challenging object for an ED80..the first time I attempted it I gave up because no amount of screen stretching showed the slightest hint of nebulosity.

I tried it again last weekend, extending the subframe duration and total exposure.

details

scope: ED 80
Mount:CG5 (autoguided)
Filter: Baader H Alpha (7nm)
camera :QHY8
Exposure: 20 minutes x 10
Capture:Nebulosity
Processing:Nebulosity/Photoshop

thanks for looking, comments and feedback most appreciated

this object is not often imaged-though Paul Mayo recently did post a fine image of this object (with 3 minute subs! thanks to his 12.5 inch aperture). In fact apart from Paul's image-I can find only three others on the web-Robert Gendler's APOD, John Gleason's superb H Alpha rendering and Eddie Trimarchi's excellent H alpha image.
Its challenging target but a wonderful region.

That's a challenging object indeed, very well captured! I tried the same object a few weeks ago and got nothing but noise. H Alpha really brings it out. Congratulations on a job well done!

Cheers,

Rob

Narayan lots of detail there, as its in Black and white and a small thumbnail was this Binned 4x4 to increase sensitivity?

Nice work Narayan!
This is going to be one of my next targets to image when the skies clear!
Richardo did this a month or two back with his 10" newt and came out rather nice too!
cheers

I am keen to try this as well, but am a little confused with the exact area. Am I correct in assuming the ED80 is about 600mm focal length, and is there anything in the area to help guide me to this weird looking object.
Great shot.

Great shot.
I forgot to mention I used a William Optics 0.8 reducer in the optical train, so I guess its closer to 480mm

the Dark Tower is centred at RA 16 47 37 Dec -41 15 09

here is my image located in google maps
