SW EQ6Pro Azimuth Adjustment Lug

Reading here:
http://www.astromart.com/articles/ar...article_id=277

The author moved the azimuth adjustment lug so that he could place the EQ6 Head on the mount so that the weight bar was suspended over one of the tripod legs.

I assume this is also useful for polar aligning so that the tripod leg can be used to direct the mount to the south.

Do other people also do this; or leave it standard? I didnt see any mention anywhere of this, until I read the review. I havnt moved it as yet; but I'm thinking the counterweights may hit the tripod leg; maybe not, I'll have to check it out shortly

Yep, I've moved the lug so the counterweight is over a tripod leg. Improves tripod stability when the counterweights are added prior to attaching the OTA. The counterweights don't hit the leg.

Cheers,

Rob

Cool, thnks guys.
This should also assist somewhat pointing the tripod leg when polar aligning during setup process.
