Best M104 I've seen...?
Peter Ward posted a link recently to an absolutely mind blowing Eta Carina image by Johannes Schedler taken from Namibia with a Philip Keller design 20" Corrected Cassegrain, well I think Johannes may finally have some competition from an RC..? Here is Adam Blocks recent m104 image taken with his new 24" RCOS scope in Arizona:
(Warning it's a 3.2meg image)
http://www.mlobservatory.com/m104mlscab.jpg
Deffinitely the best M104 I have seen outside Hubble with a very natural seamless halo full of globular clusters - very hard to get just right. This is also the first image in which I have noticed the break away sections of dark dust cloud just off the edge of each end of the central dust lane. What an amzing array of distant galaxies in the background too!
Incredible! :ey epop:
Here is a link to more of the first light images by Adam:

Enjoy

have you seen the M104 processed by my friend Vicent Peris (Pixinsight team)?
It was a recent APOD...

What an amazing set of quite extraordinary images. I’ve just decided to cut short my imaging aspirations and go back to visual. LOL!
Cheers

Vice Versa Dennis, I've just started my imaging aspirations, and whilst these images are unimaginably brilliant, all it does for me is shows what I wont be able to do
Awesome to see that kind of detail though... I've sure never seen it like that through the EP

Is a 24" under dark pristine skies the answer?
Does an additional 8" make a difference?

Think about it...
Adam is no new kid on the block (pun intended). He is a mastermind when it comes to image processing.

..and a 32 inch is on the way too....
To be used for a public observing program. I believe its one where unlike Gras and Lightbuckets, you actually attend in person for full "hands on" imaging.

I think Johannes Schedler on the Keller 20" in Nambia would give Adam's Sombrero image a run though.

Look what I found
http://seds.lpl.arizona.edu/Messier/more/m104_deep.html
A perfect target for Strongmanmike's ultra deep imaging. I will have a go at it myself with the 300mm lens if I can
