M104 ver 1.01
Hello group,
Been tweaking this one...maybe for CWAS..... trying to get the noise down, colour dead nuts on etc. Should I pretty happy with the converging solution below?

Lots of very nice detail there Peter and a pretty smooth light gradient to the centre which is often burned out by less experienced imagers. One of the best I've seen of the Sombrero besides Hubble !

Looks very nice indeed - dust lane is beautiful. Though I wouldn't have thought you'd give away what your CWAS entry will be.. I reckon there's a surprise or two in store.

As always thanks for the feedback. While I think the image has some technical merit, it doesn't quite work for me with the "wow factor"...which is always required for CWAS.....maybe the weather will allow just a little more data.

Hi Peter
Nice, but its a bit wide field to do it justice. If we are talking CWAS quality, it shows some colour noise zoomed in on the dust lane. Given a choice for a CWAS entry, your recent NGC5128 kills it stone dead, the NGC5128 has the wow factor in spades, one of the best ive seen.

hmm, you know my thoughts on this target Peter (based on your previous post). While it’s a CWAS candidate, this one doesn't inspire…imo. Don't get me wrong, it’s a lovely image, but it’s missing a key ingredient.
As Fred mentions, Cent A was a corker. Struth, you’d be bonkers not to enter that one into the semi-pro cobber.
Actually, how many people enter the semi-pro anyway (considering the entry conditions)? I sense there's a lack of contenders...its worth entering to try your luck against the heavy hitters

Man, you have problems Freddo  you need to put a fast F2.8 50mm camera lens on that ST10 and tie yourself to a chair and watch it image large swaths of sky in just a few short subs man  do this until you have knocked some sense into that long focal length mega data brain of yours

Technically Peter's M104 is far superior to his Cent A image. The Cent A image lacks the dynamic range.
Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
