Yes, me too, it is a most moving place. Just personally, I particularly remember the section of the Wall of Remembrance towards the South-Eastern end, devoted to the personnel of RAAF Lancaster Squadrons, most especially 460 and 463, who paid the highest price so heavily.

As much as I find the War Memorial facinating, it's also sad and somewhat haunting and you can't but not walk away and reflect on how lucky we are today.

My Dad died in a car accident when I was 8 years old.
I still miss him 45 years later. I also feel that his death was in vain in that he never died for a cause.
He died because of a drunk driver who is still alive today.

Funny how our stories are so similar. Except I was 10 and the driver was
a male nurse. I'm 41 now and it always upset me how my mother told me
that the driver was fined $500.00 and lost his licience for 6 months. I
also felt so ashamed, a few years ago I was done for mid-range.

btw, that photo speaks a million words to a million people, and I mean
that in the most repsectful way.
