Jupiter + GRS + Io - 11th May

Hi all

Here's an image that I finally finished processing, taken on the 11th May local time. Seeing was pretty good, but fell short of being excellent. The seeing was best for only about 20 minutes of the session, but fell away before and after that time.

Io can be seen transiting just past the CM (North is up).

Ok I give up Mike,

Another lovely image but for the life of me I cant find Io. Add to that I don't know what the CM is, well, you get the idea.

Can you please point it out for me?

The CM is "Central Meridian", basically the line dividing north to south. (roughly up/down in this image).
Io is on the edge of the EQ zone/NEB (brown belt above the middle white-ish area), just to the right of the CM (middle).

It's got 2 dark areas at the poles with the brighter area in the middle.

Oh, now I see why I missed it, it almost looks like its "part" of the division between the dark brown belt and the lighter belt below it. Its also a help to know what you are looking for. Must be terrible to have so much detail in your pictures that the moons blend in to the cloud bands.

makes you wonder why nasa bothered with spending all that money on hubble... a 12" newt, eq6 and a CCD camera would have done them nicely...
