Envisage 7.05

For DSI owners using Envisage, Meade has uploaded the latest version on their website. The first noticable change is that the magic eye triangles are now gone in favour of a Maxim style focussing pyramid (yay).

I've yet to image with it and see if there are any other changes imaging wise. I'll have to report back on that when I get a chance.

Cheers

have you installed it yet? Doest let you keep the previous version or does it install over the top?

Peter

Hi Peter, it installs straight over the top on the old Envisage. I've installed it to the desktop (XP) and the laptop (Vista) and all is running well.

I also keep a backup for a while just in case anything goes haywire.

Cheers

Ric,

Just did the upgrade - still works and they've fixed the annoying crash when you adjust the exposure with the live box unchecked - yea! They've also made the histogram sliders larger so easier to adjust.

I'm impressed!

Did you also update AutoStar Suite or just Envisage?

Peter

Thanks for the information on this. Despite my registered version, I have received no information from Meade via e-mail.

Hi Peter, I didn't bother with Autostar suite as I never use it and it is an 80 meg download. A word of warning, if you do download it you will have to reinstall Envisage 7.05 as this latest version has the older Envisage on it.

I dont quite understand Meades thinking at times.

Hi Matt, unfortunately you never will, in my opinion Meade have great scopes but lousy after sales service. You just have to keep an eye on their website and the 4M community website.

Ric,

I checked the Meade 4M to see if there was any mention of the Envisage update but couldn't find any

However while checking I did come across another free download that I've been looking for - JAC Virtual Crosshair - it puts a crosshair over any open app - so you can position over a star in the live envisage window as a reference point if your alignment isn't quite right to ensure your stacking begins from the same point each sub. Also can be used for drift aligning with envisage/DSI.

Thought you might be interested...

Thanks Peter, that sounds very handy indeed. I shall have to have a look at that one.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Ric
I tried the new Envisage program last night. Some improvement on the previous especially in getting the full frame to fit. However, I did notice that when focusing there were sometimes unexplained halts for a few seconds in the 1 second images I was taking in the live box. Again, for some unknown reason the program crashed and the only way I could turn it off was to switch off the PC and reboot. Neverthless, I think I will keep using it. Cheers Peter

I tried it last night and had no problems. The focus aid is much better than the triangles.

I must be the only one who hasn't tried it out yet, it's all set up and ready to go but I haven't had a chance yet.

Peter (pjphilli) it's hard to say what your computer problem may be but the first thing to check would be microsoft's dot net program and make sure that it is at least version 2 or better. Autostar and Envisage are a lot happier with version 2.

Cheers
