Thumbs up New Computer on it's way!

I have bitten the bullet and put my order in. My Mr.Computer Fix-it man came today and I asked him to build me a brand new computer! It should be delivered Monday.

This is what I ordered, tell me what you think.

80 gig HD
512Mb memory
Graphics card on board
DVD/CD etc. Burner with Nero
Windows XP Professional
56k modem

All brand new except modem (being taken out of my old PC)

TOTAL $690

If you're running Photoshop on it Ken see if you can sweet talk him into bumping it up to 1gig of Ram memeory. It will make a big difference in image processing speed and shouldn't be much more expensive. Or back Tony into a corner and mug him. He's probably got a few ram sticks lying around somewhere you can plug in.

sounds like u've got everything covered.. and to be honest with you price isn't that bad either.. by country prices. Alot of people just shop around until they find the cheapest price for what they want.. but cheapest isn't necissarily the best. After sales service is what counts.. and if this blokes good it's worth the money. Sounds like u'r getting the 'special' version of Windows XP Pro.. make sure u get the the one that can get updates and stuff..

Paul, too late too bump it up as he started building this afternoon! Are Ram sticks expensive?

Ellex, it's updatable! I checked that too.

Tony, it better last a while. Can't afford to do this PC buying too often.

I can't wait to load up all the Graphics stuff and go Berserk!!!!HAHAHAHA! (thanks Houghy)

EDIT: Cheryl just read this thread and said that once we get the new computer I am not allowed to use it coz she will be on it all the time.

We'll see!!!!

Ellex, Probably too late! He bought the parts today and started assembly tonight some time.
I am starting to get as excited as when I was waiting for my 12" dobbie to arrive.

John, we keep telling Telstra our town needs it! Cheryl said there was an article in the paper about a week ago that Telstra is going to bring Broadband out here due to 'enough interest'. We hope it's soon.

BD? are there any wireless providers? that could be why telstra is bringing broadband there.. to squeeze out the wireless providers.. may be a chaper alternative to adsl.
