Spent Saturday and Sunday nights at Mt Kent trying to image galaxies but the wind, dew and poor polar alignment got in the way of capturing some really long exposures. Despite all that here's my latest attempt at M83 using the DSI and 10" newt. This is a stack of about 50 x 30 sec subs.
I had set out to do a colour image but ended up having a lot of trouble getting the images to stack in Envisage so settled for only the red. I will give tri-colour another try from home but don't expect to get the same result with all the light polution here.
I just go for the longest sub I can get away with given how accurate the alignment is, how much time I have etc. Meade recommend at least 50 subs stacked to get good signal to noise so the longer sub means longer total duration.
