Does the focus lock on Meade SCTs stop all mirror flop?

Just curious now that OAG seems to have removed all my star trails - suggesting it could well have been mirror flop... It got me to wondering - does the Meade solution - have a mirror lock - actually totally work?

well from my experience it certainly heads towards that goal - I have owned a 12 classic and i currently have a 10" OTA and i do prefer the mirror lock

I find the mirror lock to be quite an effective tool. I have found that it stops the mirror drifting out of focus when moving from one DSO to another.

Have you ever tried doing say a 6 - 10 minute shot of a star with the lock off , then put it on and done the same shot - and examined them to see if one has worse star trails - caused by mirror shift - with the lock off?

Many thanks

Matt
