Leo Quadruplet with new 450D

had another play with the 450D. Though not modded, I thought I'd try it with galaxies, along with a newly purchased Hutech LPS filter. The Live View is FANTASTIC, taking about 5 seconds to get precise focus

Star Atlas pro showed if I move the Triplet to the right I will also fit in NGC 3593, making it a quadruplet group

8x10 mins ISO400. Hutech LPS filter, Baader MPCC coma Corrector. 6 inch f3.6 Schmidt Newtonain Meade "Cometracker"
processed in Iris and PS as usual. Little bit of internal reflection from brightest star there.
Cold conditions. Therre is NO AMP GLOW at all, and few very hot pixels. A modded version of this camera, with this and the 14 bit depth will rock! A cooled one even better

Did you take any darks or flats? The background seems to have quite a bit of colour noise or blotchiness.

The galaxies themselves look nice!

Nice galaxies. I agree with Mike. There seems to be quite a lot of noise in the background.
What method did you use in Iris to combine the images. I find that technique described here seems to produce the least noise.

Howdy
Ive not used any noise reduction software, I also bumped upmthe saturation to try and give stars more colour. I used the normal arithmetic stacking. I only take one dark, rather than several into a master dark, as I dot get any appreciable improvement. Heres the shot ran through Noiseware. Handy information on Iris that too

Im using a 20 year old Meade 6 inch F3.6 Schmidt Newtonian "Cometracker". It has an uncoated plate glass corrector plate (looks dark green from edge on) However I do use the much newer Baader MPCC coma corrector that flattens the field better.
Heres a reprocessed version that is better flatfielded and a bit smoother
Not too bad for an unmodded camera. Im keen to see first pics from a modded 450D owner
