CPC vs LX200R

I'm looking at getting a fork mounted sct for ease of use and portability. I've kind of decided on these two options. Does anyone have any experience of pros and cons between the two? I'll be using it for visual work 99.9% of the time. Any contribution would be helpfull. Maybe even a LX90?

Of the 2, the LX200R has the better optics. But costs a pretty penny.
For visual, go for it.. The resolution will be better than the other.

Meade now make the LX90 ACF. This is now the same OTA as the LX200R but not as expensive because the mount is still the LX style mount.

I have looked through 9.25 and 11 inch CPC's at very dark skies and they performed great. I have a 12 inch 200R and the views are very sharp, compared to my 5 inch meade mak which has razor sharp optics which they are known for the 12 200R is just as sharp but of course alot,lot brighter. For 99% visual use look at the new LX-90 ACF scopes which have same optics as the 200r but are alot cheaper and are good for visual,portability and ease of use with goto. Go for at least 10 inch for visual but 12 would be alot better if you can handle it.

Hi Gareth, I researched both scopes when looking for a new one and found them both to be very capable. I chose the LX200R in the end as the optics were a touch better and I was also offered a better purchase deal which wasn't that important but it helped.

I have had it for almost two years now and have never had a problem in any department and I am extemely happy with it..
