Sunset on a very hazy day in Melbourne

Saw the sun setting through a thick haze as I was coming home this day (18/4/08) and couldn't resist getting the camera out

The second image is just the first one with an adjustment to the brightness/contrast, tell me what you think

Image details:
Canon EOS400D
Date: 18/4/08 6:43PM
1/400s at F/7.1 ISO: 400
Shot from Melbourne, Victoria

Ahh, that’s better. Very nice atmospheric photos. Were the exposure settings manual or auto?

Cheers

Taken on Auto, I had to be quick as the sun was setting fast so I didn't bother mucking around with settings too much

Glad you like them

Thanks Andrew - I'm constantly amazed at how auto settings on modern cameras can handle these difficult scenes, with such an extreme range of tones.

The Auto setting does do a great job when you're in a hurry.
Sunsets have to be capture right then and there, no time to muck around because the light changes so fast and you can easily lose the moment.
I like the richness of the colours.
