How often do you get out with your scope /s or binocular to commune with infinity ?

Not as often lately as I would like .

This will change shortly when I have some new toys.

Now , only a couple nights a month , and only when it is dark and still and cloudless.

More often with my trusty big binoculars than not.

And sometimes if I am up the beach , or on the breakwater fishing for jewie at night time I'll simply sit back or lay down on the beach or a handy flat rock , look up and loose myself for a while.

I've had my dob out every cloud free night since I got it, mind you that has only just hit 3 weeks..

Its a hobby I've taken to very strongly fairly fast... and whilst im sure the frequency will decline a little (to nights that have better condition / something of interest) I can see myself sticking with it for quite some time...

Last year I averaged twice per week (about 8 times per month). That seems to be about the right rhythm for me....with other pressures with time and energy I am too wrecked to do much more.

Whenever it's clear and the seeing is good.
In early March I was wrecked after 2 weeks of clear skies

The weather/conditions here in Bris/SE Queensland have been very poor for quite a few months.

I'm sure it will start to pick up soon

Like others, not nearly as often as I would like!!

Probably a couple of times a month all up...this is a combination of scopes and targets...from home it most likely is the moon or sun with either the ED80 or 8 inch Dob...My 12.5 inch is less frequent for no moon or dark skies when ever I can get away from other commitments.

I try to aim for at least three times a week subject to clouds and other commitments

week days it usually visual with imaging left to the weekends when things are less rushed.

Like others, not as often as I might like, and less than I used to, but I'm not letting it worry me. I've been an amateur for 35 years and I hope I have few years left me yet.

Between trees and the neighbors lights the back yard is a write-off. Also it is very often cloudy here below the escarpment; Wollongong was originally settled for its rainforest timber. Over the escarpment are fenced-off water catchment areas. The nearest decent observing location I know of is 45 minutes drive away. Add the packing up time and setting up time and it is about 1.5-2 hours work to start observing and the same again at the end.

So I am pretty much limited to the Saturday of the new moon and third quarter. Take out cloudy nights, late starts in summer, holidays etc and 6-8 nights a year is about average. I have some plans to increase that but we'll see what happens.

Went for the no/not much moon option, but could've gone the 0nce or twice a month.
Would have ticked the 'Not often enough' option had it been there though

For me it was once or twice a week, though not always Was out last night testing my new Stellavue binoviewer on the LB. The moon was spectacular, but other sights just highlighted the need for me to give it a really good collimate - which I did.

Recommend Binoviewers though - the sense of 3D (on the moon at least) was spectacular.

Since constructing my observatory it has been every clear oportunity ~2-3x/week. Makes a big difference not having to set up.
