Guys these are absolutely beautiful !
I keep flicking back between the two images and feel like I'm in a high class jewelry store savoring their merchandise.

Excellent work.

Stunning Images, did you have to modify the newt to allow the 40D to come to focus??

Hi Phil

The newt tube itself has not been modified ( I assume you are referring to shortening the tube or moving the primary upward ).

We did replace the rack and pinion focuser that came as standard with a 10:1 crayford focuser, which did not help bring the camera to focus.

The camera came to focus only with the use of an MPCC.which changed the focal point.

Thanks Andrew. We're pleased with the jewel box particularly as we know that a few have had trouble with capturing the different colour stars.
We appreciate your comments

We always use the natural spikes in our images Gary but this time we added spikes with PS actions as they seemed to add a little more to the final result

Thanks Peter. We had previously imaged Omega Centauri with the Pentax so it was good to compare the difference using the 40D.as it seemed to bring out more star colours.
It was our first try at the Jewel Box and are reasonably happy with the result.
