Any IT wiz around?

Looks like my Laptop's dying ! As soon as I start it a white band appears on the screen. It's about 8 cm wide and runs vertically , more towards the right side of the screen.

Anybody who can help?

Has just the screen gone bye bye - in other words does the computer start up normally?? sometimes the screen can be unscrewed and replaced with a new one - they are expensive though - I had a friends whose cost about $400, or a bit over
good luck - it is terrifying when something goes bung on your computer - On thurs night my laptop for work wouldn't charge - luckily it was just the power adapter & I got one under warranty - the mac shop didn't even check it

Thanks Dannat! My laptop's absolutely fine, its just the annoying thing which shows up even before the screen lights up!

Dnt think i will be lucky as you to get a screen replacement under warranty...it's almost 3yrs since it expired.

Hi,

Do you have a spare lcd or crt. If so plug the laptop into that and see if you can get a picture. Every laptop I have seen has had an externa vga port so yours should as well. If you can the lappie screen is dead but you can still use it tethered to some other screen.
