M104 Sombrero with DSI-C on 09/04/08

I had a go at this last night. Tough one to get detail.

30 second exposures were just to much for a rough polar alignment on a basic EQ6 mount.

I'll definately have to revisit this target though.

hi Mark
Aside from the poor tracking a good picture.
How many subs did you stack and what are your skies like?
Also what scope did you use and were you at prime focus or eyepiece projection?

Hi Mark,

It' nice shot of the galaxy but those stars give the polar mis-alignment away. It sure is a difficult target. I had a similar experience trying to get some detail with almost the same setup on Friday night. I'm going to have to get that guiding working.

Thanks Steve and Peter.
I use the Envisage software that came with my original Meade DSI one shot colour camera. That image is 50*30 second subs shot through my 10" reflector at prime focus.

Post processing in Photoshop to bring out more detail.

Not sure how to judge my skies. I'd say they're semi dark since I live on the outskirts of a town that has a population of about 80,000.

Guiding, yep, there's always something else to buy in this game isn't there?
cheers

Mark

Hi Mark, a nice shot for sure. If you are using the Envisage software have you tried using the drizzle mode and realigning the stars that will probably tighten them up a bit more for sure.

Cheers
