Not sure what the problem is there but I notice in the error message it mentions D:\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.cpl which suggests Quicktime was not installed in the default directory on drive C, but on drive D.
Perhaps if you uninstall it and reinstall it to the default location on drive C, ie: C:\Program Files\QuickTime.

Worth a try.

cheers

for those that may interested

i found a fix

in control panel goto quicktime >Advanced and clickSafe mode GDI Only

aparently this has to do with some of the Nvidia Graphic card drivers

and as so it happens ive got a new graphics card

still cant save qt movies though error -43 :mad2 :

If your are using the free version of Quicktime it won't allow a save. You need to buy the pro version for that.

Just checked mine, Quicktime V7.4.1 No probs with saving. Are you running XP/SP2 ?
Try checking for an update if yours is earlier version.

hi bill

i am running xp pro quicktime version 7.4.5

it is either a problem with that version (7.4.5) or my vid card drivers

ive tried other vid card drivers before the one i am using at the mo

seems to be the most stable for now

I'm getting a similar problem with the quicktime updates. If I initiate an update it pretty well locks the machine and I have to do a cold restart. Must be a problem with the website.
Having said that, just went for a look at the machine inside the house (I'm using the one in the shed) and in Programs there's a file called Apple Update, just clicked it and its downloading 7.4.5 now, let you know how it goes.

Installed and downloaded a movie trailer (Be Kind, Rewind looks quite funny) and saved it no probs.
You may have to uninstall and go search C:\Programs for any folders that refer to quicktime and delete them before re-installing with a fresh download from Apple. I don't use Itunes or Sahara (don't want them, ever) so only QT on my machine. You'll have to feed it your activation code to make it fully functional before trying a save again after a full install.
