Sick as a ..
Man I hate this winter, been sick with cold and flu for the past 4 weeks, and now i've got bronchitis.. and add to that, my son gave me conjunctivitis.
So I can't see out of my right eye properly, my chest and back hurts and when I cough it feels like i'm gonna die.
So, how's everyone else doing?

We've had it here too, but the effects don't seem as severe in Tas, maybe we have a bit more immunity to it because of the colder weather. The worst thing is the dry tickly cough that seems to linger long after the flu's gone. As they used to say, just have a Bex and a good lye down...

There is a distinct difference between "the Flu" and a cold. When one cops the real flu, they are bed ridden and basically incapacitated. Colds make one just plain miserable but still able to do stuff to some extent. I dont think I have ever had a Flu, had some pretty miserable colds and that sort of thing though. Mind you now days people's habits can leave them open to all sorts of bugs, you only have to go into a public toilet and watch the amount of people that dont wash their hands properly. Even money, keypads on teller machines are contaminated, so the idea is to keep ones hands as clean as possible and out of the mouth.
Just my 2 cents worth

We are all fine here now. Flu has gone and we just feel tired all the time.
It has been a bad year for flues.
Hopefully it is over down here!

I havn't had tha cold or flu for a lot of years and that's because I don't have to mix with all those city slickers who don't cover their faces when they caugh and sneeze all over the place, live in the country and stay healthy, but that could all change with Astrofest in ten days time . astroron

A remedy to try to clear a cold ridden snotty nose..... Out front of a local 'bing-bong' shop a few weeks back was this leaflet that explained how one's own saliva contains anti biotics. Basically, to cut a two page leaflet down to fit in here.... Lick your finger and put it in your nose, while breathing in. The wetness keeps the nasal passages moist. I personally havent tried it, but according to this remedy page, it seems to work.

Sounds terrible. When I am really stuffed up I just walk outside into the below zero foggy air and take BIG deep breaths. Works for me! Cold Salty Sea air is supposed to be even better!

gorbies are good.. they warm the airways.. i asked a doctor when i was sick the obvious question of "what's the point of gorbies?' and he said.. "to warm the airways."

Funny thing that, when I used wavesail in winter I rarely got colds and when I did the effects were shortlived. There was a program on TV on the beneifical effects of bathing in cool waters on a regular basis.
