DSI III - Round Two

Hi all
Here is round two with the DSI III. Sydney weather was kinder last night so I imaged a few favourites to try to come to grips with the new imager. These were all done on the Orion 80 @f7.5 and guided with the ther DSI.

Eta was imaged using an Astronomik LPR filter - seemed to give it a funny blue cast though so I took it off

Overall not bad but I think I stuffed up the darks (temp was dropping and I took too few) - this may be the cause of what I think is evident amp glow in a couple of the images esp Cent A.

Omega - 90s subs for a total of 5 mins
Centaurus A - 2 Min subs for a total of 10 mins
Eta Carina - 2 Min subs for a total of 10 mins
Jewel Box - 10s Subs

Pretty standard processing for the most part - curves and levels, some noise reduction and a gradient layer removal. Some colour balance changes in the Eta image (to combat the blueness)

Let me know what you think

That new camera is working out well Dan. I especially like the Omega image. What software are you using for guiding and acquiring the images? If you are using envisage, how does it go with 2 DSI's attached?

Yes I'm using the new version of Envisage that came with the camera. For the most part it works OK but occasionally (3 times during the 4 hour session last night) it will just blow up and you have to restart. Its also really slow to write the images off to disk.

Admittedly they are up to 16mb each (using FITS3P) but it still seems slow to me.

Sorry Peter
Yes I am - I have the DSI Pro II hooked up via a RS232 - USB connector. That part seems to work fine
