Unusual Request

Hi, I originally posted this in the "wanted" forum but perhaps that wasn't the best place. I admit it's a slightly odd request...

Does anyone have a (perhaps old or spare) pair of astronomical binoculars they could either lend me, or let me "rent"? I'd be happy to leave some sort of bond or deposit for them.

I'm spending a week inland, far away from the bright skies of Bondi, but can't take my LX200 along with me . However, I can't bear to waste an opportunity for some good seeing! I've got a pair of general purpose Meade 7x35's which I'll use if I have to, but I was hoping for something a bit more powerful...

If you have an old pair going cheap, I might even consider buying them. But they would have to be pretty cheap.

Thanks for looking,

BigJ.

When do you need them?

I've got some 11x70's you could borrow.

Thank you! I'm leaving on Saturday week, 29 March, so I'd need them before that day. What would be the best way to arrange this?

Of course I will treat them as my own, but for your peace of mind I'll be happy to leave you with a deposit in case of loss or damage.

You'll have to either pick them up at my house (on the central coast) or somewhere near my work (near Hyde Park in Sydney).

No deposit needed, I'll trust you Contact me via PM. I won't be home Friday - Monday.

One question: are they able to be directly mounted on a tripod? If not, please let me know their make and model. I'll buy a doo-dad from Bintel so they can be mounted, which you can keep afterwards.

I've got a tripod adapter for them as well, they'll be in the case.

I've got an old pair of Hanimex 7x50's you're welcome to borrow.
No tripod connection though.

Thanks everyone,

Your offers are greatly appreciated.

As it happens, Space Oddity who lives around the corner from me, dropped over a pair of 14x70 Fujion's yesterday, so it looks as though I'm set.

Cheers,

BigJ.
