NGC6067 - Open Cluster in Norma

Hi all

Here's an image of a nice open cluster in Norma, NGC6067.

It was captured on the 15th March, and consists of 12x 240s exposures. Darks were ICNR, and flats were calibrated in ImagesPlus.

Unmodded Canon 350D + ED80 + WO 0.8x reducer. Guided with PHD + DMK.

I'm quite happy with how it turned out, giving some nice star colours and a lovely rich starfield looking towards the plane of the milkyway. I framed the shot so that the dark nebula on the left balanced the star cluster on the right.

Attached is an 800px wide version - a better, 1200px wide less compressed version is here:

Thanks for looking.

Mike, that is a nice image of Dunlop 360 = NGC 6067.
Here is the first description of this object.
"A pretty large cluster of small stars of mixed magnitudes, about 12’ diameter; the stars are considerably congregated towards the centre, extended south preceding and north following" James Dunlop 1826

He also noticed the star cloud that is partly visible in the lower part of your image.
Dunlop 362 "A space in the milky way, exceedingly rich in small stars"
