10" Lx90

One often sees 8" LX90's either being discussed or for sale. There is less feedback on the 12" model but careful searching still reveals some feedback and helpful insights.

However when it comes to the 10" lx90, feedback is very elusive. I have never seen a second hand one. Still they are always listed new so I imagine they get bought.

The 10" model seems a nice compromise between portability and aperture - it is a light scope by comparison.

I guess I have always marvelled at what Steve Hamilton has been able to achieve with an 8" lx90 astrophotographically . Although a 12" might be pushing the mount I see no reason why a 10" LX90 could not be tested to the same limits.

With the new Meade ACF models about to arrive in Australia () I am keen to know more about how the 10" SCT LX90's have been received here.

Could those who own one please give some feedback.

Well the post has had 60 reads so far. I guess 10" lx90's are very thin on the ground in Australia.

If I find anything that helps me with information on the 10" lx90 I'll post a link here for anyone that's interested.

To all those who read the post - thanks for looking anyway.

hmm I think you're right - I haven't seen or heard of much over the 8" LX90.

People usually go the 10" or 12" in the LX200 range.

OK I confess, I have a 10"GPS & I'm very happy with it, A friend has an 8" but we have'nt compared them optically as yet
I drew the line at the 10" as far as wieght/portability goes(22kg's) It's easy enough to get from the car to tripod maybe 10 metres away but you wouldn't want to walk the length of a rugby field with it, 2 people might manage ok
the 10" has a 3 1/4" visual back whereas the 8" is 2"
I'm looking at buying a wedge for mine but unfortunately it requires the much more expensive ultrawedge whereas the 8" will mount on the standard wedge at a third of the cost
I've not seen another 10" at club nites etc but have seen a few 8" ones
the 10" still fits in a small car boot or back seat
the only other significant point I can think of is the price difference

Cheers
Bryan

Thanks Brian, just the feedback I was hoping for. Weight and price are high on my priorities.
